FIAN Uganda Annual Report 2021

Message from the Board Chair

On behalf of FIAN Uganda, I would like to welcome and thank you for taking time to read through highlights of our work for the year 2021.

FIAN Uganda has grown from a Seed group, to a Chapter and now a fully-fledged section of FIAN International and is legally registered in Uganda as a Non-Governmental Organisation. As a relatively new section of the global FIAN family, we pride ourselves on the strides that we have taken to promote the right to food and Nutrition in Uganda.

FIAN Uganda has engaged in a wide range of activities, ranging from participating in global discussions related to the right to food, to monitoring national policies and finally empowering local communities to understand and demand or their rights. We thank our partners as well as FIAN International Secretariat and other FIAN sections across the globe who have continued to support our work. I congratulate the national secretariat of FIAN Uganda and the communities we work with for the resilience exhibited in spite of the crippling effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on various facets of our lives. Operating with strict adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures, FIAN Uganda has managed to undertake various activities including trainings, research and advocacy activities.

I hope that this report paints for the reader a fairly representative picture of our efforts to advance the right to adequate food and nutrition in Uganda. From me and the team at FIAN Uganda, we wish you the very best in 2022.

Prof. Christopher Mbazira,
Chairperson, Board of Directors
