Press statement – Parliamentary Nutrition Week. Local solutions to national hunger: FIAN Uganda’s call to action for food reserves

Managed locally and stocked with culturally appropriate staples such as sorghum, millet, dried meat, and milk, food reserves will provide a vital buffer against drought, floods, and market volatility. Moreover, given that some regions produce more food than others due to differences in climate, soil fertility, and infrastructure, food reserves play a critical role in facilitating the redistribution of surplus food to areas facing shortages.
